E x t e n s i o n | A c t i v i t i e s

The Power Group has had a tradition of strong interaction with the electric utility industry. The group is involved in a variety of short courses developed via the Extension to Business and Industry.

Several short courses are offered annually to serve timely needs of the electric utility industry. Typical subjects for 3 to 5 day courses are: Protective Relaying, Power System Protection, Electric Substation Design and Maintenance, Distribution and Transmission Line Design, Distribution Engineering, Engineering Economics, and Power System Operations. Presenters are from utilities, manufacturers, consultants, and Iowa State University. Attendees are from investor owned utilities, municipals, rural electric cooperatives, and public power districts.
